The purpose of this wiki is to bring together the range of strategies and learning experiences that shape education at Mazenod College. This wiki is a collaborative effort that will continue to evolve over the coming years. The underlying philosophy of this page is that students can learn without needing complex, expensive software. The wiki itself is housed on a free server at wikispaces and demonstrates how the Internet can be used to bring students and staff together in their learning.
The online links to learning tools and resources are all free, although some will require a sign-up for access. Students should note that they must never put their full name or any personal details on any of the online resources we use. Where the online tools are collaborative in nature, students should use a username that has their first name and second initial (e.g. John.S). They should also use their school email address if one is required.
Never Stop Learning
This video, from the organisation, Education Dynamics, helps us to contextualise why we are at school in the first place.[1]
We Think
Charles Leadbeater is a renowned thinker and is something of an iconoclast. In this short animation, he challenges us to think about the way the culture of the next generation favours a paradigm of knowledge sharing. We are no longer judged by what we own; we are judged by what we share. For more on Charles Leadbeater, go to his webpage or view his TED talk on innovation.[2]
